On February 11 we participated in the concert that was organized to celebrate the day of Santa Eulalia. We were invited by the Federació Catalana d'Entitats Corals and especially by Mr. Octavi Fontecha. It was an open-air show in front of the Barcelona Cathedral, a large, touristy and an important landmark in the city.
The festivities of Santa Eulalia are celebrated every year around February 12. Various popular activities are carried out around the city to commemorate Santa Eulalia, who is the patron saint of Barcelona, thanks to her solidarity and her fight for justice.
In the concert, we decided to sing songs from the 80s. It was a very important time since it is when most of our parents began to arrive in Barcelona from the Philippines. That night, we sang a wide variety of songs in Catalan, Spanish, English and Tagalog. We also danced to the hits from the 80s to relive the youth of our parents.
The audience welcomed us with great enthusiasm and we saw various people enjoying the music while we performed. This reaction from the spectators encouraged us to do our best and enjoy the concert even more.
This concert was a challenge for everyone, because in addition to having to learn some new songs in a very short time, the real challenge was trying to project our voice more as the venue was an open space. Thanks to all our efforts, we were able to achieve and both us and the public had a lot of fun.
