Christmas Party

DECEMBER 28 2022

Christmas has always been a time for family gatherings to celebrate together. We get together and celebrate the Christmas Party every year because we consider the choir as a second family.

The 2022 Christmas Party started with a few games, such as the Musical Chair. There were not many, but we still had a lot of fun. The winners of each game received chocolates and candy as prizes.

One of the activities we always do is the Secret Santa. Before handing out the gift, to give it more intrigue, we described how they look so that the rest of the choir can guess who it is.

In previous years, talent contests were organized. But this particular year was different, prizes were awarded for the best 80s costumes we wore to our last Lost in the 80s concert. Medals were awarded to the winners.

After eating, we finished the celebration by watching a short film and enjoying each other's company.

We missed getting together and celebrating Christmas without restrictions and creating these kinds of memories.

Residencia de los Tilos

DECEMBER 23 2022

On December 23rd, we did a mini concert at Los Tilos, a nursing home in the Baix Guinardó neighborhood of Barcelona.

We sang traditional songs like Paru-parung bukid, some modern and from different genres like All the beautiful colors, Shake the papaya and Sweet dreams.
We also played percussion instruments, ukulele and guitar to accompany songs like Bonse Aba, Duerme niño Jesús and La bamba. During this last song, the audience cheered up and sang with us, a reaction that thrilled us. They also accompanied La bandita, a band composed of five members of the choir, who performed Eres tú.

When we finished all the songs we had prepared, the audience encouraged us to sing one more and we were very happy to see their enthusiasm.

This mini-concert was a new and heartwarming experience. We were able to interact and connect with people who are not close to our age, something we don't normally have much opportunity to do.

Interreligious Mini Concert

DECEMBER 15 2022

On December 15th, together with the Gospel Choir, we participated in the Interreligioso mini-concert, which we participate every year in the Iglesia Protestante de Barcelona-Centro.

Before the performances, the event began with prayers in different languages, such as Catalan, Spanish, Filipino, Moroccan, among others, since these are the cultures that predominate in this area.

Our performance was based on 3 songs: Bonse Aba, Sweet Dreams and Awiting pamasko Medley, a song that compiles various traditional Filipino Christmas carols. In this performance, we livened up the atmosphere with our dance steps and also showed our versatility by playing percussion, guitars, and a violin.

Unfortunately, not all members of the choir were able to attend, as it was on a weekday, but we still went with the desire to sing, enjoy and bring joy.

Next year we will be back with the same or even more enthusiasm!

Lost in the 80's

DECEMBER 6 2022

November 22, 2022 was our 8th anniversary and to celebrate it, we performed a concert entitled Lost in the 80's, our first proper concert after 3 years.

Lost in the 80's is divided in two parts. The first one is about a trip to the past, specifically the past of the Filipino immigrants in Barcelona.
Along with the participation of our parents and the choir divided into groups, we relived the glory days of the 80s singing and dancing emblematic songs of that period.

In the second part, we narrate our evolution as a choir from its beginnings to the present. We sang songs from old concerts, as well as from competitions and our most recent performances.

This concert was both important and commemorative because, together with the audience, we learned about the history of the arrival of the Filipino community and the importance of our cultural values.
Despite having had only a month of hard preparation, we were able to go on stage with all the enthusiasm we accumulated over the 3 years to give it our all.
