Summer Activities

JULY 2022

During the month of July, we participated in four activities in order to be productive and learn new things. This was not our first time to do this since last year we had our first workshop, the theater workshop with Victoria Szpunberg and the ukulele classes.

We started this month with yoga with Professor Cesar, he taught both young people and adults. We learned about the importance of breathing in our body and the capabilities we have when we take advantage of correct breathing. Together, we have discovered new positions and movements that help improve our body dynamics.

Another workshop we had was theater with Roser and Rebecca (Dramatiks) where we learned the basics of acting through small activities. For example, we learned about the connection between movement and space and we had fun making improvisations, using our own imagination and creating characters. We end this workshop with a small performance to show our parents what we have learned.

Finally, when the two workshops were finished, some of our choir members offered to teach the new members how to play the ukulele and guitar. At the end of these classes, we did a mini concert where the students demonstrated what they had learned.

In conclusion, these summer workshops have given us lessons that we can use in the choir. They have fostered our creativity and further aroused our interests in music, dance and theater.

Independence Day

JULY 3 2022

Every year, the Filipino community commemorates the Philippine Independence Day. Originally it happened on June 12, 1898. This year it was celebrated on 3 July in Plaça dels Àngels. It was the first time that this great festivity was held after the pandemic.

Groups and associations came together to prepare a great show so that the audience could appreciate the Filipino culture and gastronomy.

Due to the rehearsals for the Gata Perduda opera, the choir couldn't all be together in this event. However, some of the members were able to represent the choir during the celebration, both in the parade and in the performance where they performed a dance number.

On the other hand, the parents made an effort to prepare and sell Filipino food for the spectators.
