The Kudyapi Choir was formed in 2004 as part of the Iskwelang Pinoy cultural group of the Centro Filipino (School of Centro Filipino) founded by Sister Paulita Astillero. But years later she retired and it was then, that Nats Sisma Villaluna and Arnel German Lamorena decided to continue with the choir, which was originally known as the Centro Filipino Coro Infantil.
When the new directors joined in, the choir began to hold concerts, such as "The Spring Concert" in March 2014. Soon after, a concert was held with the collaboration of CFC.
Later, on November 22, 2014, the choir was renamed the Kudyapi Choir in a big concert, “The Autumn Project: the concert”. This event was dedicated to the victims of the super typhoon that affected Tacloban in the Philippines.
From then on, the choir hasn't ceased in surprising the audience with its performances whether in their concerts or in other cultural events in and outside the Filipino community.

Also, growing up with the choir, it has become a tradition for members to hold a solo concert to celebrate their 16th birthday and to symbolize their musical transition from a child to young adult. This event has become a significant tradition for those who bravely showed their talents onstage.
Due to the pandemic, some events were postponed after turning 16, and/or there some concerts that were organized without considering their birthdays.

Despite the pandemic, the choir hasn't been inactive. During the quarantine, they practiced from home and did rehearsals through online video calls. They have been part of online events such as Filipino Independence Day 2020 and 2021, and a concert collaborating with Ayuda Na! Donation Drive hosted by Tipon. Later, when the confinement ended, they did face-to-face rehearsals, respecting the imposed safety measures. Now they are slowly getting back to the usual life.
Another tradition that could be highlighted is the fact of singing carols at Christmas time in different houses and companies since it is typical of the Philippines. They took advantage of our ukulele classes to be able to play these Christmas carols, in Tagalog, English and Spanish.
In the summer of 2016, some choir members and mothers joined in a volleyball league organized by MFYA. The objective was to have a good time even if they have lost all the games.
Furthermore, the choir has prepared itself to participate in competitions, having the chance to be mentored through special rehearsals provided by different directors of various choirs, such as Professor Teresita Marques of the Lisbon Chamber Choir, Professor Jonathan Velasco of the Ateneo Chamber Singers choir, director Renalie Aquino of the Regina Coeli Choir and the director of the Palawan State University Singers choir.
